Sons of Speed is a vintage motorcycle racing event founded by custom bike builder Billy Lane. The event is inspired by early board track racing from the early 1900s and features stripped-down, pre-1950s motorcycles racing at speeds of 100+ mph—with no brakes. The races take place on banked oval tracks, like the New Smyrna Speedway in Florida, during events such as Daytona Bike Week and Biketoberfest. The motorcycles are often period-correct, hand-built, and modified for maximum speed, staying true to the raw, dangerous spirit of early motorcycle racing.
