Before the arrival of Columbus, the Greater Antilles were home to a complex, interconnected world of chiefdoms. The Taíno people built a society of sophisticated agriculture, spiritual depth, and maritime skill that spanned the islands. When the Spanish arrived, this world was dismantled by disease, war, and forced labor, leading to a centuries-old myth of total extinction. The film follows the thread of their presence from the first potters to the genetic and cultural legacies that remain in the Caribbean today. How did a civilization that seemed to vanish from the history books leave such a deep mark on the world? Every fact in this film is checked against the historical record. The paintings, the narrator's voice and the music are made with AI tools on our own machines (the voice is designed, not a real person's). The people in the paintings are imagined. #History #CaribbeanHistory #Documentary
