It's 115°F in the desert, and a Bedouin man is wearing a long black robe, a head cloth, and extra layers. You're in a T-shirt and shorts. Who's actually in more trouble? Almost everyone gets this wrong.
In this video, we break down the physics of staying cool in extreme desert heat: why bare skin can heat you up when the air is hotter than your body, how a loose robe traps a cushion of still air, how sweat and airflow work inside the cloth, and why wearing black turns out to make almost no difference.
We also look at why this trick fails in humid heat, how the same robe works as a blanket on cold desert nights, and a safe mini test you can try yourself.
