Welcome guys! Dhodap gad is one of the important for from nashik district. Dhodap gad is situated 4751 Ft above sea level in satmala mountain range of Sahyadri. It is also know as maharashtra’s 2nd highest fort; and 6th highest peak point. It’s location and height made it a valuable defensive position in this mountain range. This fort was earlier under nijamshahi of nagar. But Mughal sardar alavardi khan gav a bribe of 1 Lacs to killedar and captures the for. It is mentioned that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj visited dhodap gad after 2nd visit to surat, and kept the treasure here. Dhodap gad have a unique structure formed when basalt rock lava was taking shape, due to this fort got a shivlinga like structure at the peak. And the clif at the peak have a huge gap in between. And due to this unique structure it is difficult to attack on fort. One can do a range trek of javalya-ravalya-dhodap-kanchana-ikhara-ankai-tankai which usually require 6-7 days. What to see: Lord hanuman, shiva, Ganapati, and a goddess temple, few ruined doors. 2 floored Well of peshwa era. Inscriptions in farsi language. water tanks, caves etc. How to reach: From Mumbai-Agra highway 55 kms ahead of nashik you can reach to dhodambe village. From dhodambe village you can get a private vehicle to hatti village which is a base village of dhodap gad. Time to trek: It will take around 2:30-3:00 hours to reach at the top of the fort. Stay, food, & water arrangements: There is 1 cave where you can stay overnight. A water well is available below the same cave which you can use for drinking and to prepare food. You can arrange food at the base village and bring it with you, or you can prepare at the top by your own.
