From cutting board style to woodturning

Welcome back to my YouTube channel! This week, I prepared a large block of wood consisting of several exotic wood species—rosewood, ironwood, maple, and rengas wood. I precisely assembled all these pieces using glue-up techniques and end-grain patterns, creating a sturdy and characterful composition. The pattern I used in this project is typically known for making 3D end-grain cutting boards, due to its visual effect, which creates a three-dimensional impression. However, this time I used it for something different—a large vessel or container that will be shaped using a lathe. This process requires great precision, especially since each type of wood has a unique character—both in terms of hardness, grain direction, and natural color. After the shaping process was complete, I applied beeswax as a natural, environmentally friendly finish that also provides a soft shine and protection to the wood surface.
