Ocean Overwash RIPS THROUGH NC 12 - Indefinite Closure Triggers EMERGENCY FERRIES

A severe storm accompanied by high tides has caused major ocean overwash to wreak havoc on NC 12, a critical highway connecting the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Powerful waves surged over coastal dunes, sweeping massive amounts of sand and debris across the asphalt, severely damaging infrastructure and leaving coastal communities completely isolated. In response to the extensive damage, authorities have issued an indefinite road closure for safety reasons.
