THE FAITHFUL WORTHIES OF OLD (Hymn)

Faithful Worthies of Old – A Hymn on the Ancient Worthies This hymn is based on the faithful men and women of old spoken of in Hebrews chapter 11 — those who trusted God before the heavenly calling was opened. Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and many others lived by faith, often through great trial and suffering, looking forward to the fulfilment of God’s promises. Hebrews 11:35 speaks of them obtaining a “better resurrection,” and Psalm 45:16 points to their future service as “princes in all the earth.” Their faith still gives us a powerful lesson today — to trust God even when we cannot yet see the fulfilment of His promises. Key Scriptures: Hebrews 11 Hebrews 11:35, 39–40 Psalm 45:16 Isaiah 35:8 Acts 3:19–21 Genesis 22:18 May this hymn encourage all who are watching for the fulfilment of God’s great Kingdom promises.
