In the year 1988, it was more painful to lose someone you love, than it is today; NOT losing them to death but to their own desires to change either the environment or the lifestyle/living standards, where you as the boyfriend, fiancée or husband becomes the victim of eviction. While people of Migori and many parts of Kavirondo were busy roasting the maize that had just gotten ready from the customary raw harvests of June, four men were agonizing from painful divorces; Bruce Springsteen (Solo Guitarist) from Julianne Phillips Eric Clapton (general Guitarist) from Pattie Boyd Lionel Richie(Vocalist) from Brenda Harvey-Richie Morris Abich Abuya (Omoya Sherry Moja – Drummer) from Monica Atieno. Given the seriousness of the disclosures, all these men mentioned, who happened to love beauty and beat; They each made songs about the endings of their marriages as follows; Bruce Springsteen to Julianne Phillips - One Step up. Eric Clapton to Pattie Boyd – The Shape you are in. Lionel Richie to Brenda Harvey Richie – Penny lover Omoya Sherry Moja to Monica Atieno – Ngá mihero kare lit kawei; meaning = being abandoned by your other half is a bit nasty. Being an African I did not expect a fair judging from the usual Western umpires. Without wasting a minute I jumped to a conclusion that “Ngá mihero kare lit kawei” was the most soothing of the four. The most honest, sincere and emotionally relatable post-divorce whistle blowing. For that reason, I shall never play on this channel any of the other 3 unless someone proves to me that either of them is better than “Ngá mihero kare lit kawei”. One last thing, with the Help of Collela Mazee, Odongo Agwata, Peter Odiwuor Manyona, Onyango Orego rego, Oyuech Malago, Okeyo Achayo, Owino Oomo, Apiyo Capela, Odham Wembe and Ndugu Rabby, Omoya Sherry Moja let out this tell all diary after a short end of courtship. Of the 4 men, Morris Abich Abuya (RIP; 1958 - 1994) is the only one departed so far. I’m still wondering why the people we love can just abandon us for someone else; maybe it’s because one man’s meat is another man’s wish; may be; just maybe!
