Quick Overview Encryption protects data from unauthorized access by converting readable data into an unreadable form. Symmetric encryption: Uses one shared key and is fast. Examples: AES, DES, 3DES, ChaCha20. Asymmetric encryption: Uses a public/private key pair. Examples: RSA, ECC. SSL: Older protocol for securing network communication; now obsolete. TLS: Modern successor to SSL that provides confidentiality, integrity, and authentication. TLS handshake: The initial process where the client and server authenticate and establish cryptographic keys. After the handshake: Symmetric encryption such as AES or ChaCha20 protects the actual data. #cisa #ceh #encryption #informationsecurity #cybersecurityawareness
