MAJORETTE Simca 1100 TI restoration

Restoring a Majorette 234 Simca 1100 TI, in the Serie 200 range from 1975 until 1979. The Simca 1100 TI is certainly entitled to stake a claim at being the world's first "hot hatch" at its 1974 introduction. While it boasted 82 horsepower, it was a 40% incease over the standard 1100s 58hp. It could hit speeds of 105mph. It was a quick little car. It was advanced too being the first unibody front-engined, front wheel drive hatchback (and wagon too) at its 1967 launch. Majorette recreated the TI in 1975 where it remained for four years. It had limited colour variations and featured in the Serie 300 with a caravan before disappearing after the real car had been replaced by the Chrysler Horizon (long story this is explained in the video!). Edward Scott sent this model over to me and as ever with Majorettes of this vintage, it is missing a lot of paint which has evidently flaked away over time. I gave the base a polish and with it the grille which forms part of it. The little Simca came out looking as good as, if not better than new.
