J'can Farmers Are Running Out of Water | Farming Fatigue - Jamaica Under Drought (2026) | TVJ News

Jamaica’s farmers are running out of water and the consequences are reaching far beyond the farm. In 2026, drought conditions have left farmers across the island struggling to keep crops alive, livestock watered, and their businesses afloat. With water sources declining, rainfall below historical levels in many parishes and restrictions on water use in effect, farmers are counting losses while paying more to secure the water they need. In this documentary, we travel across Jamaica to hear directly from farmers dealing with ruined crops, rising costs, dying livestock and an uncertain future. We also examine the government’s drought mitigation efforts, water trucking, irrigation infrastructure and the challenges of building long-term water security. With El Niño conditions forecast to continue into 2027, will Jamaican farmers have to keep toughing it out, or is this the new normal? Watch Farming Fatigue: Jamaica Under Drought, a TVJ documentary examining the human and economic impact of Jamaica’s worsening water crisis on agriculture. #FarmingFatigue #Jamaica #Drought #JamaicanFarmers #Agriculture #WaterCrisis #FoodSecurity #TVJ #JamaicaNews Jamaica News Today - Television Jamaica (TVJ) a Trusted Source for News, Sports & Entertainment.
