The Shepherd Gives His Life

The Shepherd Gives His Life | John 10:11 | Christian Scripture Song *The Shepherd Gives His Life — An Original Christian Scripture Song About Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd* What kind of shepherd willingly gives His life for His sheep? In John 10, Jesus reveals one of the most beautiful and profound truths about His identity and His love for those who belong to Him. *“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” — John 10:11 (WEB)* The Shepherd Gives His Life draws our attention to Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd who knows His sheep, calls them by name, and willingly gives His life for their salvation. Unlike a hired servant who flees when danger comes, Jesus does not abandon His sheep. He loves them with a sacrificial love demonstrated through His death on the cross. Jesus did not lose His life because events were beyond His control. He willingly laid it down in obedience to the Father, and He took it up again through His resurrection. His sacrifice was not merely an example of love. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus accomplished the work of redemption, making salvation available to those who believe in Him. Jesus also declared that He has other sheep who are not of the original fold, pointing toward the gathering of believers from the nations into one flock under one Shepherd. *“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27 (WEB)* To belong to the Good Shepherd is not merely to know about Jesus. It is to hear His voice, trust Him, and follow Him as Lord and Savior. The Shepherd who gave His life for His sheep also calls them to walk in obedience, depend upon Him daily, and remain faithful to His Word. *The central message:* Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd. He knows His sheep, gave His life for their salvation, rose again, and calls them to follow Him. *Scripture References:* John 10:1–18 — Jesus, the Good Shepherd John 10:27–30 — His sheep hear His voice and follow Him Psalm 23:1–6 — The Lord is my Shepherd Isaiah 53:4–6 — The suffering Servant bears our sins Ezekiel 34:11–16 — God promises to seek and shepherd His people Luke 15:3–7 — The parable of the lost sheep 1 Peter 2:24–25 — Returning to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls Hebrews 13:20–21 — Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep *For Worship Leaders, Christian Artists, Churches, and Ministries* The Broken and Redeemed creates original Scripture-centered Christian music that brings the words and teachings of Jesus Christ into songs of worship, repentance, faith, forgiveness, restoration, and redemption.
