Along the lush rivers of the African savanna, life gathers wherever fresh water flows. This documentary follows a single pair of Red-billed Oxpeckers through an entire breeding season—from fierce territorial battles and courtship to nest building, laying three eggs, incubation, hatching, raising three chicks, and finally their first independent flights. High above the river, an old Acacia tree shelters a hidden nesting cavity where the pair carefully builds a soft nest using grasses, leaves, soil, roots, mammal hair and feathers. Below the tree, hippopotamuses, African buffalo, elephants, giraffes, zebras, herons and many other animals create one of Africa's richest ecosystems. Every day the parent birds collect parasites and flies from hippos and buffalo to feed their growing family while defending the nest from predators and surviving changing weather. This film recreates the complete breeding cycle in a calm observational wildlife documentary style inspired by BBC Earth and National Geographic. Highlights: • Territorial rivalry • Courtship • Nest building • Three eggs • Incubation • Hatching • Feeding nestlings • Predator encounters • First flight • Independent fledglings • African river ecosystem Filmed in a cinematic wildlife documentary style with immersive natural ambience.
