Two taxi bosses. Decades of bad blood. A feud that allegedly left a trail of bodies across Mpumalanga and Gauteng.
Jothan “King Mswazi” Msibi and Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni started out side by side, building their taxi empires together. Then it all fell apart. In this video, we trace how a once-close partnership allegedly turned into one of the bloodiest feuds in South African taxi history, and what it reveals about the money, power, and violence behind the industry.
In this video:
The 1987 deregulation and the “Wild West” taxi wars
How King Mswazi rose from driver to SANTACO pioneer
How Joe Ferrari went from one secondhand minibus to a fleet of nearly 400
Uvivi Farm and the allegations made before the Madlanga Commission
The split, the attempts on Sibanyoni’s life, and the ceasefire
Where things stand now, including Sibanyoni’s court case.
Important: This video discusses real people and serious allegations. Most claims come from testimony at the Madlanga Commission, police statements, and media reports, and they are allegations, not proven facts. Joe Sibanyoni has not been convicted of any offence, and he has denied wrongdoing. Jothan Msibi died in January 2024 and was never convicted of the allegations discussed. Nobody else named has been proven guilty of anything in connection with this story.
