A Sampler and a Synth Are All You Need to Make Beats // My (Very) Different 2025 DAWless Setup

My DAWless setup has gone through multiple iterations over the life of this channel, and today we’re talking my newest, and most compact one yet. In 2023 I became a parent, and I spent all of 2024 figuring out a new balance between music & life. Time in the studio has become very rare, and when there is time, I didn't want to get bogged down in remembering all the different hardware workflows and cabling. So here's the new setup, paring it down to the utmost necessities: A Synth and a Sampler. The synth is for creating samples and live performance while the sampler handles all of the beatmaking and jamming. While I'm using the Digitakt and Roland S-1 in this, the workflow is more about the hardware types. I've done this with a guitar and SP404, Tracker and Minilogue and so on.
