Keeping the Time | USA | Bluegrass

A quiet workbench, an open tray of brass gears, and an afternoon train passing outside the window. This piece takes its inspiration from the acoustic drive of traditional American bluegrass, trading high-gloss production for the raw, unhurried resonance of five-string banjo, wooden fiddle, and flatpicked guitar. Rather than a broad mountain ballad, the song settles into an intimate character study: an independent watchmaker who notices that a regular visitor only drops by to ask for the hour and pass the minutes, carrying a pocket watch that stopped running years ago. The music pairs that understated human encounter with an agile, traditional acoustic bounce—conversational lead vocals framed by tight mandolin chops and rolling strings.
