I've been talking about doing this for a long while, and thinking about it even longer - a trip along the full length of Chesil Beach, to survey the stones - local legend has it that fishermen landing on the shore in fog or at night would be able to determine their position by looking at a handful of stones (this was in the days before Google Maps!).
