I started the ride with two fellow cyclists — one from Belgium and another from the UK. Our challenge was to cover around 60 kilometres while climbing a massive 1,500 metres of elevation. But things became much harder when heavy rain suddenly started pouring down. Within minutes, we were completely soaked. Our clothes, jackets, and cycling gear were drenched, and water was everywhere. The roads became challenging, and at one point, I even fell off my bicycle. As evening approached, another big challenge awaited us: finding a safe place to spend the night. Vehicles kept passing along the road, and finding a suitable camping spot was not easy. Eventually, I found a spot beneath some trees near the top of the mountain. Despite being completely wet and exhausted, I set up my tent and prepared to spend the night in the mountains. No comfortable hotel. No dry clothes. Just a wet tent, a tired body, and the determination to keep moving forward. This is the reality of long-distance cycle touring. Not every day brings beautiful views and easy roads.
