Diagnostic Test, Initial Situation, Pre-sequence & “I Get Ready”: When and How to Use Them?
What is the difference between a diagnostic test, an initial situation, a pre-sequence, and “I Get Ready”?
And most importantly: When do we use each one, and what is its purpose?
In this video, we clarify these concepts in a simple and practical way, especially in the context of teaching English in Algerian primary schools.
📌 In this video, we discuss:
🔹 Diagnostic assessment/test – What is it for? When should it be used?
🔹 Initial situation – What is its role in the learning process?
🔹 Pre-sequence – Why is it used and what does it prepare learners for?
🔹 “I Get Ready” – What is it and how does it relate to the beginning of learning?
🔹 How these elements relate to the sequence and the learning objective.
The goal is to help teachers understand what comes first, what comes next, and why, rather than treating these terms as if they mean the same thing.
