"Stay, Mommy, Stay -- If Mommy Can't Sleep Here, I'm Not Going!"[Scene# 9]
I Don't Want To Go To The Zoo! ..."If Mommy Can't Stay, I'm Running Away."
"Giving In To Lizzie's Ultimatums"
Lizzie begins to wield her power over her parents as she begs for Beth to stay with her at the Spaulding mansion. Annie Dutton ends up befriending an upset, and freshly-temper-tantrumed, and foul-mooded, Lizzie; while angrily bolting upstairs .. away from both Phillip and Beth. Both Annie and Lizzie get acquinted with one another, in the Hallway, just right outside Annie's and Alan's bedroom Door. Lizzie, half-reluctantly, explains her predicament to her new friend-- simply informing Annie, that 'She's Running Away." Annie reassures Lizzie that she is certain that there is something she can do to be of great help, and assistance to a still currently quite upset, not to mention, very emotionally destressed little girl."[] I Want You To Trust Me Lizzie -Because Annie's Gonna Make Everything All Better."[] Taking a hold of Lizzie's hand, she leads Lizzie inside, before briefly closing the door momentarily before going herself to join Lizzie inside her bedroom. While out of young Lizzie's earshot, Annie confidently says to herself, "Sorry, Harley...This Time You Lose." Annie eventually gets around to working her charismatic charm on Phillip's and Beth's daughter; managing to invite a still, moody and upset, but, nevertheless a tad less shy, and a bit less apprehensive Lizzie inside her bedroom for some old-fashioned girltalk ... Before long, Lizzie appears to have become memerized, and enthrawled with Annie's so-called good disposition with kids, in general. Both Annie and Lizzie are playing 'Dress-Up' - Lizzie is happily trying on pieces of jewellery from Annie's Jewellery Box. Both Annie's, as well as Lizzie's Laughter can clearly be heard from the hallway, despite Annie's bedroom door being closed. Moments following Lizzie's outburst, earlier; which had originally occurred in the downstairs foyer -- Lizzie's Mom comes up to check on her daughter -- as well as to 'let Lizzie in on the "Supposedly" Good News. Beth quietly knocks on the bedroom door, and enters. Lizzie Is All-A-Glow when she introduces Annie to her Mommy. Lizzie Steps out to go get something to show Annie. While left alone in the bedroom, Both women introduce themselves; and while they get better acquinted, Annie announces to Beth that she, and Alan will be getting married shortly. Annie also begins to set her plan in motion; she hoping to be the catalyst, and the force behind helping to break up, Phillip, and Harley's romance, thus also making it 'All Green's-A-Go', also facilitating an eventual probable reconcilation, and marital reunion, between Lizzie's parents, Beth and Phillip, All the while, Annie carefully chooses her strategy -- Annie overtly discloses to Beth details of past things Phillip had spoken about his past romance with her. Annie also doesn't mince words -- she is crystal clear when she lets Beth know that she believes "Harley's relationship with Phillip doesn't stand a chance in hell!" It is abundantly clear that Lizzie's biggest wish is to eventually see, and get to have both her Mommy, Beth -- as well as Phillip, her Daddy -- back together again, as a contented Family Unit. Despite all the repeated assurances Lizzie, remains emotionally fragile insecure, In The end, contented that her Mommy has finally agreed to stay, and sleepover at the Spaulding Mansion, and be with her (especially at night) Lizzie leaves the mansion happily, goes to the Zoo outting; together with her Daddy, and Harley. Lizzie excitedly promises to bring back a zoo-themed souvenir Both for Her Mommy, As Well As Something Special for Annie.
Once, Lizzie Has Really Left for the Zoo, Together With Phillip, and Harley, Beth decide to quickly run out to Lillian's place to pick up some stuff for herself, and an overnight bag with some clothes. Beth wants to get everything done efficiently so she'll return back to Spaulding mansion, within plenty of time -- so as to be back at the mansion, to be able to greet Lizzie when she gets back home after her zoo outing. Annie Is left alone after Beth leaves for her errand. Annie smiles to herself; pleased with how things are progressing thusfar. Again, to reiterate, Both of Annie's motives are two-fold, and are as follows: - One is to help young Lizzie in her desperate, and urgent plight to have both parents -- reconcile, and reunite as a family. Annie's second motive is personal in nature. Annie wants to break-up Phillip's and Harley's relationship as a way of seeking revenge towards Harley because she betrayed Annie in the past.
