Every price in this video was read straight off the page of an actual Sears catalog — the 1970 Wish Book, the 1975 Craftsman tool catalog, and the 1979 Wish Book. Not memories. Not estimates. The printed page. In this video: – The tool Sears sold for a national conversion that Congress authorized and then quietly abandoned – The 46-cent file for a car repair job that no longer exists – Why a twenty-dollar bill in 1970 and a twenty-dollar bill in 1979 were two completely different objects – The exact moment children's pajamas stopped being generic and started being licensed – A $19.99 microscope that shipped with live animals, and nobody at the time thought it was strange CHAPTERS: 0:00 A Pool Table That Was Also a Jewelry Box 1:28 #25 Men's Nightcap — 96¢ 2:08 #24 Boys' Stocking Hat — $1.50 2:35 #23 Craftsman Meter Stick — $1.69 3:36 #22 Superhero Capes — $2.99 4:12 #21 Craftsman Ignition File — 46¢ 4:51 #20 Men's Wide Watch Straps — $3.00 5:31 #19 Pajamas With Costume Masks — $3.57 6:20 #18 Men's Slipper Socks — $3.49 6:54 #17 "Fuzzy Wuzzy" Slippers — $3.99 8:20 #16 Double-Bell Alarm Clock — $4.44 9:00 #15 Backwards Bar Clock — $5.99 9:36 #14 Men's Opera Slippers — $5.99 10:21 #13 Leather Chaps — $7.99 11:36 #12 NFL Team Pajamas — $7.99 12:21 #11 Star Wars Pajamas — $7.99 13:02 How Childhood Got Licensed 14:07 #10 Western Chukka Boots — $8.97 14:44 #9 Craftsman Nut Cracker — $8.77 15:30 #8 "Space Men" Watch — $9.99 16:03 #7 Football Clock — $9.99 16:36 #6 "Learning Time" Clown Clock — $7.99 17:14 #5 Craftsman Creeper — $11.99 18:06 #4 Hand-Impact Driver — $12.87 18:50 #3 Metric Bicycle Tool Kit — $18.99 20:01 #2 Astronomical Telescope — $18.88 21:00 #1 Microscope With a Live Hatchery — $19.99 22:14 What Happened to That Twenty Sources — all free to read: 1970 Wish Book and 1979 Wish Book, Internet Archive 1975/76 Sears Craftsman Power and Hand Tools catalog, Internet Archive Which of these do you remember?
