Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston: Charity Gala Spotlight

In this episode of An Ounce of Prevention, guest host Morgan Gilmore is joined by Tiffany Wesson-Clavelle, Development Director with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston, to highlight one of the featured charities benefiting from the 2nd Annual Dealmaker's Halloween Charity Gala. Tiffany shares how the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston has evolved since its founding in 1952 and now serves more than 18,000 youth across 20 club facilities in five counties. She discusses the organization's focus on providing young people with safe, structured environments and access to resources including caring mentors, transportation, homework assistance, organized sports, career development, leadership opportunities, and more. The conversation also explores the people and partnerships behind that work. Tiffany explains how corporate partners, individual donors, and special events help make the organization's programming possible, including its $100 annual membership, which gives young people access to a full year of programming and support. She also shares her personal "why" and what keeps her motivated to create opportunities for young people, particularly opportunities that may not otherwise be accessible to them. Morgan and Tiffany discuss the Boys & Girls Clubs' Youth of the Year program, which gives teens opportunities to develop leadership skills, explore career paths, build community connections, share their personal stories, and pursue scholarships for their next steps in education.
