In this series:
Now that I've done a Let's Play of LEGO Batman 1, I might as well move on to LEGO Batman 2. I first played this game on Wii, like the first game. And, like the first game, the only reason I have it on Steam is because a bundle containing the first three LEGO Batman video games plus a then ongoing sale meant that buying LEGO Batman 3 (the only one I had yet to purchase at that point) would have cost me the same as buying the bundle, so I saved myself some money and bought all three at once. I later got a mod to add the DLC characters to the PC version, where they never released as official DLC.
In this video:
Alfred convinces Batman to test the Batmobile's weapon systems on silver LEGO statues (in TT Games' LEGO video games, silver LEGO requires explosions to destroy), Batman returns to the Batcave afterwards and he and Robin get out of costume (labeling Robin's civilian identity as Dick Grayson, something odd because the first game indicated Robin is Tim Drake and Lego Batman 3 has Robin, with the same design as this game, get through to a mind-controlled Batman by identifying himself as Tim Drake; does this create a continuity error?) and get a call from the Justice League Watchtower (a satellite in orbit of the Earth while the comics' Watchtower is a base on the Moon) as another breakout happens at Arkham Asylum. How did they break out this time? Lex Luthor's creation, the Deconstructor, tears apart black LEGO. He wants the Joker's help finding a substitute for Kryptonite to power it and his mind control gas to rig his campaign to run for President, offering to let the Joker use the Deconstructor if he helps him. Lex breaks the Joker out and Joker breaks out a bunch of other villains, some of whom I feel belong at Stonegate as mentioned in the first game's Data files (because some of them are supposed to be sane). Anyway, the Dynamic Duo arrives to recapture a bunch of the villains, unlocking the Bat Suit (two words; it's a combination of the Glide and Sonic Suits from the first game) and Ice Suit. Batman and Robin each have one suit left that we haven't seen yet.
No copyright infringement intended. LEGO belongs to themselves. TT Games developed this game and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment published it. Batman belongs to DC, a subsidiary of Warner Brothers. Pre-release checks detected the copyrighted songs "Up the Cathedral" and "Clown Attack", both by Danny Elfman, and the visual copyrighted material "Lego Batman: The Movie - DC Super Heroes Unite 2013 DVD". The cutscene that the pre-release checks mistook for footage from the movie adaptation of this game has the claimant "Warner Bros. Entertainment", and the Danny Elfman songs both have the claimant "WMG".
