Armistead in Pickett's Charge - Gettysburg scene

It's July 3, 1863, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania In his 1948 novel, 'Intruder in the Dust, William Faulkner writes... "For every Southern boy fourteen years old...there is the instant when its still not yet two o'clock on that July afternoon in 1863, the brigades are in position...the guns are laid and ready in the woods and the furled flags are already loosened to break out...Garnett and Kemper and Armistead...look grave yet its going to begin, we all know that, we have come too far with too much at stake and that moment doesn't need even a fourteen-year-old boy to think This Time...This is it: the absolute edge of no return..." In the summer of 1992 we assembled 5,500 Civil War re-enactors from almost every state in the Union, as well as from Canada, the UK and Ireland, to re-create the historical event come to be remembered as Pickett's Charge. (Note - There was no CGI used in the making of this film.) In this scene from 'Gettysburg,' Brigadier General Lewis Addison Armistead (Richard Jordan) entreats troops in Pickett's Division before giving the order to 'Forward March!' Preceding him on to the field are Brigadier General Richard Brooke Garnett (Andrew Prine) and then Brigadier General James Lawson Kemper (Royce Applegate). Of the three generals depicted in this sequence, only Kemper, who was severely wounded, survived the charge. Of the three actors who portrayed them in our movie, all are with their maker.
