Helina Tesega and Scott Albon have spent over a decade carrying Ethiopian sound, food, and ceremony from Shanghai to Hong Kong to London, turning dinners, coffee ceremonies, and listening sessions into places where people slow down and pay attention. We're dropping this one on Meskel, and the set follows suit. Much of it draws on Ethiopian Orthodox church music, the chants and melodies that have carried this holiday for centuries. After the Demera fires and the crowds, think of it as a palate cleanser: something calm and reflective to sit with once the celebrations wind down.
