Sleep Score Release is a 12-hour soundscape for nights when last night's numbers are still on your mind.
A few weeks ago I started wearing an Oura ring. I love the data and it's really interesting to see, but something strange crept in. I'd wake up and check my score before I'd even checked in with my own body. A low number could colour the whole day, and by bedtime I'd be lying there hoping to do better. Somewhere along the way, sleep had quietly become something to grade.
I wanted to make something that gives a little of that back. The tricky part was building a sound that feels warm and reassuring at the start, then gets completely out of the way. My first versions of the ambient layer came out dark and heavy, so I rebuilt it around a single soft major chord, lifted it above the noise, and let it fade slowly over the first two hours. Underneath, the noise shifts from lighter pink to deeper brown as the night goes on, so the room feels like it's settling with you.

SOUND LAYERS:
🌙 A warm ambient layer in E♭ major that softly fades away by the two-hour mark
🌊 Brown and pink noise, lighter at the start and deeper through the night
〰️ A quiet isochronic pulse, designed to be felt more than heard
🎧 No headphones needed. Isochronic tones work through any speaker
-----------------------------------
LISTENING GUIDE:
00:00 - Settle
A gentle 10Hz pulse beneath the full ambient layer
20:00 - Release
The high shimmer fades as the pulse slows toward 5Hz
45:00 Descent: the pulse eases down to 2Hz while the warm pad slowly fades
1:30:00 Deep Hold
A steady 2Hz pulse, with the last of the pad gone by 1:40
5:30:00 Late Night
The pulse lifts softly to 3Hz and stays low and quiet until morning
The screen goes dark after the first minute, so it's safe to leave playing beside you.
If your ring gives you a low score tomorrow, that's okay. One number was never the whole story of how you slept. Rest is still rest, even when nobody's measuring it. 💙
Sleep well,
Otto 🌙
