His dad was the legendary Pan Pan, and his mom was Dong Dong. Being the second boy in the family earned him the nickname “Erdaye,” and the name stuck through the generations. 😂 He's also a dad himself, with six offspring: Juxiao, Nana, Tongtong, Boshi, Shenwei, and Ziyan. Two of them, Boshi and Shenwei, were born to Ximeng and Tian Tian, the giant panda who once lived at Edinburgh Zoo. 🐼💕 🏠 Ximeng's panda life Ximeng never went overseas, but he's definitely done his share of traveling around China. In 2005, he moved to Bifengxia Base. In 2008, he went to Chongqing Zoo, briefly returned to Bifengxia in 2009, and then headed to Nanchang Zoo in 2010 for a public exhibition. He returned to the Dujiangyan Base in 2014, then spent some time at the Baoxing educational center in 2015 as a panda with roots in Baoxing. In 2018, he finally returned to the Qingcheng Mountain Base in Dujiangyan, where he settled down for his retirement. 🏡🎋 Honestly? After all that moving around, he's earned the right to take it easy. 😌 🌿 Life in his golden years Like any senior panda, Ximeng has picked up a few age-related issues, including worn teeth and high blood pressure. His keepers make sure his food is cut into smaller pieces, and he has 24-hour medical care and monitoring. ❤️ But this old gentleman is still doing pretty well. According to his keepers, his appetite is still going strong. When they call him for a meal, he'll slowly make his way over — no rush, no drama. 😂🐼 Just taking life at his own pace. And honestly, that's exactly how a true Erdaye should live. 💕🎋
