I’ve already given you my first look at the Trek Checkpoint+, but now it’s time to find out what it’s actually like to ride! I joined the Trek Bikes Bicester team for a gravel adventure on the Isle of Wight, taking the Checkpoint+ on a 70km ride covering everything from smooth tarmac and gravel tracks to bridleways and some fun off-road descents. But this wasn’t quite a standard Checkpoint+ setup. I swapped and added a few components from my own Checkpoint to make the bike more suited to the way I like to ride, including: 🚴 Carbon wheels fitted with wide 2.0-inch Maxxis Ikon tyres 🛠️ Redshift suspension stem 🪑 Airloom 3D-printed saddle 🧲 Fidlock magnetic bottle holders 🎒 Tailfin frame bag In this video, I share my real-world riding impressions, how the Checkpoint+ handled the different terrain, what I thought of the ride quality and how much power and battery we used over the 70km route. How does it handle when the tarmac ends? Does it feel capable on rougher gravel and off-road descents? And how well does the bike work as an adventure machine with a few personal touches? Join me for a ride around the Isle of Wight as I put the Trek Checkpoint+ through its paces and find out whether it lives up to expectations.
