Notre Dame’s final play appeared to end the game. CJ Carr threw toward Jaden Greathouse in the end zone, the pass fell incomplete, and No. 8 BYU escaped with a 28–24 win over No. 2 Notre Dame.
But replays showed the ball hit the ground with one second still on the clock. The Big 12 later confirmed that Notre Dame should have had another play—and that the replay crew “incorrectly” allowed the game to end.
The ending also sparked a separate debate over a possible pass-interference no-call on the final throw. That call was not officially overturned; the Big 12’s confirmed error was the clock.
Former NFL player Breiden Fehoko went further, alleging games are “rigged.” That is an unproven opinion—not an official finding. The confirmed fact is simpler and still explosive: the Big 12 admits Notre Dame deserved one more second.
