Set up your MedCline™ Reflux Relief System with this easy-to-follow guide. In this setup guide for the MedCline Reflux Relief System, MedCline provides detailed instructions to help users get the most out of their product and improve their sleep. The Reflux Relief System comes with three pieces: a reflux relief wedge, an insert pillow, and a wraparound body pillow. Users are advised to remove the plastic shrink wrap from each piece and allow them to air out for a few hours, as the pillows may have been compressed during packaging. Any new foam smell is normal and will dissipate after a few days. Once the components are ready, users are instructed to place the reflux relief wedge at the head of the bed, ensuring that it is positioned correctly with the flat portion (where the zippers meet) on the bottom. The kidney bean-shaped insert pillow is placed into the inner cavity at the head of the wedge, and the body pillow is placed on top and centered on the base wedge. To begin using the system, users should position their hip at the end of the wedge, inserting their downside arm through the body pillow and into the space between the insert pillow and the wedge. The elbow should rest on the mattress, allowing the user to lie comfortably with the side of their chest on the wedge. Proper arm placement is crucial to prevent sliding and ensure comfort—users are advised to ensure there is no pressure on the underside of their arm or armpit. The body pillow may need to be fluffed or flattened for optimal head and neck support. Users can try positioning the long side of the pillow either in front of or behind them and are encouraged to place it between their knees for added support. There are two options for the lower arm: it can be positioned down through the lower opening or bent upward toward the body pillow. Users are encouraged to try both positions to find the most comfortable arrangement. For optimal acid reflux relief, clinical studies show that sleeping on the left side is most effective, so users should begin each night in that position. However, they are free to switch sides during the night as needed. Since most reflux episodes occur in the first half of the night, users may only need to use MedCline for the first few hours. They are also encouraged to keep their knees bent toward their chest to prevent discomfort in the lower back.
