How HOT Do Bicycle Disc Rotors Get? // Temperatures Measured!

How hot do bicycle disc rotors get under normal use? Simple question, but not a lot of data out there. In this video, I do some pseudo science and engineering to measure EXACTLY how hot bicycle disc rotors get on my 2021 Specialized Diverge gravel bike. I put this rudimentary data acquisition system together using spare electronic parts in my garage and I analyze the data in my favorite numerical computation package, MATLAB / Simulink. In addition to getting a sense for the maximum temperatures you're likely seeing out on the road, hopefully you'll learn a bit about the rate of heat dissipation at rest vs. at speed (convective heat transfer) and a couple other interesting nuggets.
