Rome was finally closing in on the end of the war with Taras. The North is secured, and Taras has been pushed back to a single city in Sicily. But just as the Republic was preparing to finish the war, a political rebellion changed everything. House of Amelia seceded from Rome and seized a large territory, including a province that was important for rebuilding the Roman armies. The rebellion disrupted Rome's plans and forced the Republic to change its priorities. Rome responded by reclaiming two abandoned cities and beginning to mobilize a new army against the rebels. At the same time, the campaign against Taras continued, and Rome captured their final city on the Italian peninsula.
