Magic Carpet 1001 (also known as Arabian Nights or Aladdin III) is an unofficial, unlicensed horizontal shoot-'em-up video game developed by Mega Soft / NTDEC and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Famicom in 1991, Caltron and Gluk Video in 1992 and Asder in 1993 as part of the Asder 20-in-1 multicart. Its Caltron 6-in-1 incarnation is arguably the most well-known.
Plot: You control Prince Aladdin as he flies on a magic carpet to rescue the Baghdad princess from the evil "Space Devil Tribe".
Genre: Side-scrolling, high-difficulty action shooter where you shoot projectiles at various enemies (such as bees, birds, hooded figures, and space anomalies).
Levels: The game features four distinct stages with shifting themes (ranging from desert and night environments to space) and a unique boss at the end of each stage (including a witch, a flying jar snake, a giant skull, and giant lips).
Power-ups: Collect items like letter power-ups ("P", "S"), face icons, hearts, and magic lamps, though the game notably lacks a traditional scoring system.
Variants & Hacks: Bootleg variants and translations include Aladdin III, Magic Carpet 1001 Turbo, and regional releases by publishers like Caltron, Gluk Video, and Asder.
