Altimeter Founder & CEO Brad Gerstner joined Scott Wapner on CNBC from the White House for a wide-ranging conversation on AI, U.S. competitiveness, Meta, and the scale of the infrastructure buildout ahead. A few themes stood out: • The U.S. can continue moving quickly on AI while evolving safety frameworks alongside the technology. • Competition and investment in compute remain central to maintaining U.S. leadership. Brad noted that more than 40 gigawatts of AI compute are expected to be built in the U.S. in 2027. • For consumers, AI is moving beyond chatbots toward agents that can take action, from booking travel to navigating customer service. • Demand for AI remains significant, but the economics matter: revenue growth across companies like OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta will ultimately need to support the enormous level of infrastructure investment underway. • On Meta, Brad discussed why the company’s push into consumer AI could mark another important chapter in its evolution. As Brad put it: “The world wants a lot more AI than it can get its hands on.” The views expressed are those of the speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views of Altimeter Capital Management, LP.
