Albania to Lake Ohrid — Trans Dinarica Ep.7

In this video Bill and I set off from Dushaj and ride through Albania for five days, passing through Kukës, Peshkopi and Katjel, before crossing into North Macedonia and ending the video at the stunning Lake Ohrid. Albania will be remembered fondly for the people, the amount of warm greetings we received, and offers of help were too numerous to count. We will also remember the many, many climbs! Accommodation wise we have fully embraced the luxury bikepacking life on this stretch; guest houses, bunk houses and hotels every night, most coming in well under €50 between us and often including breakfast. When it's that cheap (and paired with a long hot day of climbing), the pull of a shower, an air conditioned room and a comfortable bed is almost impossible to resist. I also share some news in this video, unfortunately I didn't get a place in the Atlas Mountain Race. Disappointing, but on reflection it might not have been the most sensible first step into endurance racing anyway. I'll be looking for something a little closer to home and a little less savage as a first proper endurance event instead, if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below, I would ideally like to do something early next year. The Trans Dinarica is a 5,500km bikepacking route crossing eight countries through the Balkans — Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Albania.
