Never Wear Gold Near Electricity... Can This Ring Be Saved? In this extreme gold restoration project, an electrician wearing an antique gold stallion signet ring suffered a devastating high-voltage electrical accident. The brutal electrical discharge fused scorched copper wires directly into the engraved metal, completely burning and destroying the shank. What began as a terrifying high-voltage disaster turned into an intense, painstaking rescue mission. The journey starts in the smoke and charred ruins, cutting away fused copper cables and burning wires wrapped around the mangled lion-and-stallion signet frame. Beneath the layers of melted copper and toxic carbon buildup, an acid bath revealed the grim reality: the lower gold band was entirely severed and vaporized by the current. To rebuild what the electricity destroyed, raw pure gold was smelted in a high-temperature digital furnace at an astonishing 1058°C, cast into an ingot, and precision-rolled through an electric rolling mill to forge an exact replacement shank. Through countless cycles of intense oxy-propane torch annealing, seamless microscopic gold soldering, and boiling pickle cleanses, the ring began taking form once again on the steel sizing mandrel. Every original contour had to be honored. Using Swiss hand files, micro-sanding abrasives, and hand-engraving chisels, the crushed vintage scrollwork and historical horse motif were delicately carved back to life. A rich black niello patina was reapplied to mirror its antique heritage, followed by a multi-stage high-luster mirror polish that erased every scorch mark of the 10,000-volt surge. Watch the full transformation to see whether pure craftsmanship can truly reverse the impossible damage of extreme electricity! 🔨 TOOLS & WORKSHOP EQUIPMENT USED: High-Temperature Digital Gold Melting Furnace (1058°C) Professional Electric Rolling Mill Precision Micro-Jewelry Saw & Swiss Hand Files Oxy-Propane Micro Soldering Torch & High-Purity Solder Hand Engraving Chisels (Niello black detailing) High-Speed Rotary Tool & Final Dialux Mirror Finishing Mop 💬 QUESTION FOR GOLDSMITHS & MAKERS: Would you have attempted to save this melted piece, or melted the entire ring down into scrap gold?
