Blackpool Pleasure Beach ICON opens | 5 Years On | from Build to Launch

Visit Fylde Coast joined a huge crowd of rollercoaster fans, press, media and local businesses for the launch of this new roller coaster. In this video we've clipped together some of our previously unseen footage and photos from the day, with their promotional video. Here's Blackpool Pleasure Beach ICON opens | 5 Years On | from Build to Launch. First there's the hype with the TV advert. Then see how ICON was built in a cool time-lapse video of the site taking shape. Then it's launch day and everyone gathers on a bright and sunny morning at the Globe Theatre. First there's a presentation and opening event, where journalists find out everything they want to know. We spotted a good few famous faces - sat next to travel journalist Simon Calder we enjoyed a chat. The European Coaster Club and Thrill Rides Photography were just two of the attendees who we spoke to. Later, out in the park, we met Andy Hine from the Rollercoaster Club of Great Britain. Chatting with old friends and new acquaintances, everyone made their way to the ride to be entertained with strands of saxophone music along with the noise of the park. And then they were off! The first ride leaves the station and the atmosphere is amazing! It's packed with people trying to take photos and video footage. Rollercoasters aren't our thing - we love to watch them but riding is another thing! So you'll enjoy the front seat point of view ride video provided by them! Have you been on ICON?
