Moulin Rouge (/ˌmuːlæ̃ ˈruːʒ/, French: [mulɛ̃ ʁuʒ]; lit. '"Red Mill"') is a cabaret in Paris, France. ... Music theme from the 1952 movie, Moulin Rouge "Where is Your Heart" Adapted from Le long de la Seine (William Engvick and Georges Auric) Arrangement by B.Tomingas played on his Oribe Guitar May 2021 Jackson Hole WY Photos are from my many wanderings in the mountains while wondering what's what. ByronsGuitar.com The Moulin Rouge is close to Montmartre in the Paris district of Pigalle on Boulevard de Clichy in the 18th arrondissement, it is marked by the red windmill on its roof. Literally it means Red Mill. Moulin Rouge is best known as the birthplace of the modern form of the CAN-CAN (Can-Cana) dance. Originally introduced as a seductive dance by the courtesans who operated from the site, the can-can dance revue evolved into a form of entertainment of its own and led to the introduction of cabarets across Europe. Today, the Moulin Rouge is a tourist attraction, offering musical dance entertainment for visitors from around the world. The club's decor still contains much of the romance of fin de siècle France. Regarding the Song: I once had a major running argument that ran for several years with a music theory instructor at CalArts who insisted without deep knowledge of theory no one could write a good song. He was of course trying to insult me as I had dragged him before the Dean to get him to change a foul grade he gave me which he did and never gave me another bad grade (nor a high mark). His hoity toity statement offended my sense of adoring simple sweet songs as much as enjoying the complex bravado of serious compositions. Here's a perfect example of a lovely song, nothing complex, the lines simply follow the heart. Doesn't matter whether or not the composer was well schooled or not, they knew how to avoid over complicating a lovely story. My mom's father came from Belgium and so I grew up with French songs and artists such as Piaf.
