He navigates blind through the brush and the beams, A hazy collage of uncertainty's dreams. While others creep low into caverns to sleep, Through winter's sharp frost he must wander and weep. No deep hibernation protects him from chill, He shivers and searches, a ghost on the hill. He bears forty teeth and a tail like a rope, Yet moves through the world with a razor-thin hope. Two winters, perhaps, if the road isn't cruel, A brutally short and ephemeral rule. A tragic nomad of the dark and the cold, He never survives to be weary and old.
