Everything is pretty self-explanatory, but for those who don't get it, the title is a play on words of 'altitude sickness'. Each movement takes place at a different altitude on Earth, and the Closer is all of them put together. Instrumentation (25-40 Players): Snare, Quads, 5 Bass drums, Marching cymbals, 2 Triangles (6" & 9"), 12 Suspended cymbals (eleven 18" & one 15"), 8" Splash, 5 Concert toms, Ride cymbal, Sizzle cymbal, Ice bell, Bell tree, 2 Crash cymbals (15" & 18"), Concert snare, Hi-hat, Sleighbells, Vibraslap, 2 pairs Concert crash cymbals (18" & 20"), Finger cymbals, Chimes, Surdo, Tambourine, Concert bass drum, Tam-tam, 4 Vibraphones (2 Standard, 2 Four-octave), Standard Xylophone, 4 Marimbas (2 Standard, 2 Five-octave), nine 19" China cymbals, 2 Congas, Two-octave Crotales, Cabasa, 2 Cowbells, Glockenspiel, Claves, 8 Cello bows, Wind chimes, 2 Bongos, Guiro, Ganza shaker, Agogo bells, Plastic shaker, Big Djembe, Timpani, and Timbales.
