Once in Hallstatt, we stroll along the lakeside streets, watch the swans glide across the water, and find a peaceful spot to relax with beautiful views of the village, lake, and surrounding mountains. With the salt mine and Five Fingers viewpoint closed during our visit, we slow down, enjoy lunch and desserts, and take in the scenery at our own pace. We also visit Hallstatt’s famous photo point, where the stunning views come with a reminder of the challenges mass tourism can create for local residents. On our return journey, we skip the ferry and take the bus and train back towards Salzburg.
