The railway shut down and the corridor was converted into a recreational trail in 1994, making it one of the first rail-to-trail conversions in southern Ontario. The trail runs about 18 km from Cambridge through Glen Morris to Paris, tracing the Grand River through Carolinian forest. Around the halfway point, near Glen Morris, you can spot the stone ruins of German's Woollen Mill — built in 1867, it operated as a wool mill and later a hotel before being abandoned in the 1940s.
