Deepti Bhatnagar visits Somnath Jyotirlinga

Deepti Bhatnagar talks about the historical significance of the Somnath temple and the holy Somnath Jyotirlinga, shrine of Lord Shiva. Chandradev (Soma or the Moon God) was cursed by his father in law Daksha because he loved only one of his wives, all of whom happened to be Daksha’s daughters. To get rid of his curse Somnath offered prayers to Lord Shiva and built a Shivling. Pleased by his prayers Lord Shiva decided to rest in the Shivling till eternity and thus exist the Somnath Jyotirlinga.
