There are places you visit as a tourist… and then there are places that slowly become a part of your life. ❤️ Hirekolale Lake in Chikmagalur is one such place for us. This is one of our favourite go-to spots for a peaceful evening, just a short drive from home. We came here for the first time after our marriage, and we’ve returned many times since — including when our little girl was just 6 months old. Now, at 19 months, she can walk, talk and explore everything around her… so this visit brought back so many memories. 🥹❤️ We visited on a weekday, which made the place especially peaceful. We watched the sunset, walked along the lake with our daughter, enjoyed the reflections on the water and simply spent some family time surrounded by the mountains. The views of the Mullayanagiri and surrounding hill ranges make Hirekolale especially beautiful during sunset. The lake is also known for its scenic mountain reflections and is a lovely place for nature lovers and birdwatching. And honestly, this is one of the little advantages of living in a place like Chikmagalur. ❤️ People travel from Bengaluru and other places to experience the beauty of Chikmagalur, while for us, a place like this can simply become part of an evening walk. No big plan. No special occasion. Just… “Let’s go to the lake.” 🌿 And that’s exactly what we did.
