Questions Jesus Asks - Why do you Worry? Guest Speaker Nate Poetzl (Matthew 6: 25-34) 1. Jesus connects worry to our sense of value. "do I matter?' "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" Matthew 6:25. 2. Jesus connects worry to a lack of faith. How capable is Jesus? Can he handle this? How responsive is He? Does He care? 3. Jesus connects worry to pagan activity. Paganism - the belief that the god's must be appeased. You can trust Jesus. You do not need to get his attention. You do not need to appease his wrath. 4. An alternate pursuit. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. What am I chasing? A new pursuit. I'm not seeking me, I'm seeking Him.
