🚨 SECURITY GUARD IMPERSONATES DETECTIVE WITH FAKE BADGE 🚔
A security guard impersonates a detective in downtown Bremerton, Washington, and the bodycam catches every contradition. Forty-nine-year-old Michael Scaletta-Teates walks up to Officer Austin Trask at a parking-garage fire in a police vest, claims 27 years with Baltimore City PD, and says he's been an Edmonds detective for two years. What unravels over the next twelve hours is something else entirely.
One bad night turns into two felonies — before breakfast.
🔥 Thursday Night at the Fire
Michael approaches Officer Trask in a full police vest, name-drops a task force and the Kitsap County sheriff's detectives, and builds a resume on the spot. His actual post: unarmed security at the Salvation Army across the street.
🪪 The Credentials Are Always in Another Bag
On Friday morning a second officer comes asking for a commission card. It never appears. The gun on Michael's hip is real, and the officer takes it.
📋 Three Names, Zero Matches
Thursday's report has Michael with a two-part last name. Friday morning he spells out Mezzy Scaletta. Dispatch returns a third version — Scaletta-Diaz, out of Lacey — with no valid driver's license.
🔒 The Record the Officers Already Pulled
One officer ran his name after Thursday's contact. She pulls the others aside: convicted felon, 2015 bomb threat, SWAT standoff. The gun is a second felony by itself.
🏪 The 7-Eleven He Wasn't Hired to Guard
A Salvation Army custodian puts him in the 7-Eleven parking lot at 5:30 that morning, ordering people off a property he had no contract for. That moves the impersonation charge up a degree.
Twelve hours, two encounters, two felonies. The badge number on his vest was never Edmonds' to begin with.
🔍 What was Michael Scaletta-Teates actually charged with?
Kitsap County prosecutors charged him on September 8, 2025, with first-degree criminal impersonation and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, both Class C felonies carrying up to five years each.
⚖️ Why was the firearm a separate felony?
Officers found through a police database that Scaletta-Teates was a convicted felon. Under Washington law, felons cannot possess firearms, making the gun on his hip a standalone charge regardless of impersonation.
🏷️ What was wrong with the badge he was wearing?
Edmonds Police Department said the badge was not theirs and the number on it was false.
📅 What happened at his trial?
He pleaded not guilty, bail was set at $50,000, and a jury trial was scheduled for November 3, 2025. Court records do not show how it ended.
🎙️ At what point in this video did it become obvious to you that his story wasn't going to hold up — the name discrepancy, the missing credentials, or something else?
