Colorado's Flat Tops Wilderness | Mud, Mountains & Endless Views

This time around with Venterra Outdoors, we venture deep into Colorado's Flat Tops Wilderness for an unforgettable overlanding adventure through one of the state's most unique alpine landscapes. From the muddy, waterlogged trails of Grizzly Jeep Road to the breathtaking views from Blair Mountain, this trip delivered a little bit of everything. Along the way, we explored remote mountain lakes, discovered remnants of Colorado's early settlements, navigated constantly changing trail conditions, and witnessed wildflowers covering the high country in every direction. Not every moment went according to plan. A nearby grassfire and the sudden appearance of firefighting helicopters served as a reminder of how quickly conditions can change in the backcountry. But that's part of what makes adventures like these so memorable. Between the endless mountain horizons, summer thunderstorms rolling through the valleys, and one incredible sunrise to close out the trip, the Flat Tops once again reminded us why Colorado's high country keeps calling us back.
