Mindrolling Monastery -------------------------------- Mindrolling Monastery, located in Clement Town, Dehradun, is one of the largest Buddhist centers in India and a major seat of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. History: Originally founded in Tibet in 1676 by Rigzin Terdak Lingpa, it was re-established in Dehradun in 1965 by Khochhen Rinpoche to preserve Tibetan culture and Buddhist teachings. The Great Stupa: Home to the World Peace Stupa, standing at 185 feet tall, which is considered one of the largest stupas in the world. Its interior houses elaborate wall murals painted in gold and intricate Buddhist artwork. Buddha Statue: Features a magnificent 107-foot-tall golden statue of Lord Buddha dedicated to the Dalai Lama. Campus & Architecture: Surrounded by landscaped gardens, Japanese-style lawns, and monastic college facilities (Ngagyur Nyingma College) housing hundreds of monks.
