MEDITERRANEAN MEMORIES — Episode №2 Hike to the fortress in Omiš | Starigrad Fortress (Fortica)

The hottest day of our Croatian summer trip took us to the stunning Fortica Fortress in Omiš - one of the historic strongholds that once watched over the town and served as a strategic lookout for the legendary Omiš pirates. We started our hike at 8 AM, with plenty of water, snacks and as little clothing as possible - it was already going to be a very hot day! ☀️ We also made sure to use La Chinata SPF 50+ sunscreen from Spanish Olive Oil before heading up. The hike includes around 300 meters of elevation gain and gets quite intense at the beginning. The trail starts with loose, rocky terrain, which can be slippery and tricky, followed by some steeper sections with large rocks. Good hiking shoes are definitely a must! 🥾 We took a few snack breaks along the way and reached the top in about 2.5 hours. At the fortress, the wind was surprisingly strong, and we discovered that there is also a via ferrata route on the other side of the mountain. After enjoying the incredible views, having a little snack and taking in the scenery, we started heading back down before the midday heat became unbearable.
