The canal works have experienced delays and package-level issues over the years. The CAG's performance audit noted delays in LMC execution, including pre-closure of several packages and issues involving land acquisition and revised quantities. Recent project updates indicate that work on the left canal approach channel, head regulator and irrigation tunnel is ongoing, while the state has targeted completion of the Left Main Canal to enable Godavari water to reach Anakapalli.
